When we met the Bucket List Wish Foundation, we were moved by their mission to bring smiles to those with little time left on this earth. The charity aims to help fulfil the hopes and dreams of the terminal ill. Their entire focus was so virtuous that we felt compelled to contribute what we could to such a nobel cause.
We decided to help the foundation establish a company image that they would be proud to stand behind. We approached the logo design with all the warmth and compassion that the foundation's vision had instilled within us. We decided to create a detailed icon that would serve as the basic premise for many future applications and designs. The icon was approached by literally depicting a bucket. The bucket is a figurative representation of where we store our hopes, dreams and all our life accomplishments. The most challenging aspect of this design was not actually creating the artwork, but rather, creating it in a way that would feel light-hearted, optimistic, and without any somber or grim undertones. We decided to play off the cheery nostalgic value of colourful balloons to help offset any solemn associations that initially come to mind. The balloons not only add a sunny disposition to the logo, but help to suggest that we take our buckets, and our bucket lists with us when we leave this world. We also tried to derive some comfort in the reminder that, like a balloon, the people we love, ascend to better places when we let go of them and say goodbye.
The charity is still in it's infancy but we hope to continue showing our support, as they continue to better our community. To see them off in the right direction we've developed their brand, their business cards and set them up up with a few social media platforms to help them share their spirit of humanity. We hope to soon design and develop a website to help expand their reach and continue giving the gift of compassion and kindness.
